Do I need to Install the patches?

I bought an Octa capture for my HS7XL. Got an email of a free upgrade to X1 Studio. Completed installation but not the 1c and 1d updates. Got an email I was upgraded to X1 Producer. Downloaded all those files(and there were lots of them as you know). Got an email I was upgraded to Expanded which I haven't done yet. Will do over the weekend but my question is since I will only be using the Expanded Producer and I got the most recent files from Cakewalk.... Do I need to download the patches 1C and 1D?

Yes, install the upgrades! They make essential improvements in the functionality and reliability of X1.

Cakewalk usually don't update their installers to the latest program files. This means you'll need to install. X1, X1C, Expanded, then X1D Expanded. No way around it. Always been that way. After the intial install the updates will only take a few minutes. Just be careful: When you install expanded it is like a new product and has its own serial n umber and registration that will be different from the X1 Serial and Registration. many have gotten caught out with Serial number and registration hassels because of it. Install X1 and enter the Serial when required. When the installation finished you'll be confronted with a box that has Open Readme file and start SONAR boxes checked. Uncheck them and click finish. Now run the X1 C installer. and again repeat the finsh process without opening SONAR. Now install Expanded and remember it has a different Serial Number and registration number. Again when it finishes installing uncheck the 2 boxes and click Finish. Finally run the X1 D for Expanded patch and this time if you're ready for it allow the reame file to be opened and SONAR to run. It will want to copy settings from any previous versions installed so let it and after it completes its VST plugin scan and doing a Wave Profile of your audio card then it will start and off you go learning all about SONAR X1 Producer Expanded. this is by far the most stable and reliable method of installation as you will have all the installations done one after the other with no Windows updates in between nor any other extraneous events that can corrupt or otherwise negatively impact SONAR's running. All the best
