hello, all; 

I'm still getting my bearings around Sonar X1d PE and Kontakt etc. and am facing issues wondering how to best manage the sounds, patches, loops etc. which are provided with the various VSTs I own. 

What I'm hoping to achieve is: have a search box or the like in which I can hack a search term such as 'Organ' and it will spit out a list of all organs sounds across all instruments I have. 

• The X1 browser is just that, a browser, not a search tool, afaics; it allows you to specify a filter but you still have to click your way thru a plethora of folders in order to check if there's something matching in there, often several levels deep.  
• Inside Kontakt, it is possible to do a search across its database, and that pretty much does what I'm aiming for - but sadly only inside of Kontakt. 
• Reaktor also has a browser - but that one doesen't even have filtering. 
• the various synths coming with Sonar etc. mostly have the ordinary patch browsing capability; thankfully, many of them have a pop-out menu and are often organized by characteristics. Nonetheless I'll have to remember which of them had (e.g.) organ sounds. 

I'm aware of a program out there called Ifoundasound, but afaics this works only with audio material (i.e. WAV, AIFF, bWAV, MP3, FLAC and WavPack). 
Is there something similar that is capable of doing such things across all sorts of instruments hosted in Sonar? I know, probably asking too much (conciderung all the differing ways in which identifying info on sounds, patches, etc are stored how and where - but maybe there's something clos? Or I'm missing something vital, which is also always a possibility. 

I hope I have not posted this in the worng section of the board, but since I'm hoping to find something that works for all sonic material I use inside Sonar (+ coming from contemplating its browser) I thought this here apt.

I feel your pain, and I wish I knew of a progam that would help you.
Unfortunately, a cross synth-catalog may have to be created from scratch (as in your favorite database!) And I have to ask - what would this browser/catalog do for you besides create a list? It's a whole different animal to be able to one click audition the patches of many synths!

Hey Brian; thanks. In another Thread, Pwal has been pointing me to a program named Zen > http://www.bigtickaudio.com/zen/about-zen - this looks worthwhile and I'll be checking it out; maybe you find it helpful too? If it's worth its beans (and afaics it 'only' looks into synths for patches / presets) combining it with something like ifoundasound (for audio material) might be the solution to quickly scour a setup for specific material.
