I wonder how transparent it is.  (Not that transparency has been a factor in past decisions.  I guess I read too many Gearslutz threads now.)

I want to know if the speakers that are turned on go POP. If so I'll buy as many as I can get my hands on. I want to write POP tunes from now on.

I wonder the same thing. Switching speakers isn't as simple as, well, throwing a switch. How about popping the lid off that thing and posting a photo, Mike?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

If it is a line level switcher then the popping problem is easily solved by using make-before-break switches.
The bigger challenge is avoiding loading problems if you decide to drive all four loudspeaker pairs at once!
I built a similar box several years ago, but I used relays (make before break) and momentary switches (and a handful of diodes<G>) so that only one loudspeaker pair was active at any time.

I also had four sources on a rotary switch, which worked, except that I only needed two inputs, the stereo converter and the PC audio output, for those times when I just wanted to surf the net and didn't want to re-route the audio<G>!

    Total cost was under $60.

    Nice!

Been looking at SM Pro Audio's offerings in this regard (my requirements are a bit different):

Me, I'm currently using one of those Rat Shack 4 way speaker switchers coming from my Alesis power amp.  I don't run multiple speakers at one time (intentionally, that is).  I switch from NS10m, RS Optimus and JBL 4312.  I've got my sub attached to the Mono sum on my mixer and I blend it in as needed with the smaller speakers.

I also have a Radio Shack 4 way switcher and an Alesis RA 100 power amp that I've had for eons.....my passive set up is NS10's and these little Mackie monitors (made in Italy) that are about the size of Auratones...I don't think Mackie made very many of these....I was going to buy a switcher for my powered monitors, but discovered that I don't need to. The software in my RME UCX already has it built in.....I can easily switch between my JBL 2325's or the Equator D5's
