SSL Duality SE, SSL AWS 924/948, SSL MATRIX, SSL Nucleus, SYSTEM 5-MC, ARTIST Series...

SSL Duality SE, SSL AWS 924/948,  SSL MATRIX, SSL Nucleus, SYSTEM 5-MC, ARTIST Series, Yamaha DM2000-VCM, Tascam DM-4200.

I’m very confused after doing a long research about this. Real productive INFO needs to be update by CAKEWALK at their support page on their website. I think many more then me want to know what Consoles / Controllers are supported or not? I can’t find any information anywhere at their website? http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/default.aspx

All these consoles are very common and are found in most professional studios around the world especially SSL along with AVID Artist Series.

Can I use any of these Console / DAW Controllers with SONAR X2 or not? I have found some old statements that SSL did work with older SONAR versions but not the new X1. X2 series. It seems that any SSL are not supported "right out the box" and that are very unfortunately if that is true? SSL fully support  Cubase, LOGIC, Pro Tools, Samplitude already but not  SONAR X2? What about Artist Series?

Very confusing? Please help! Please make a new section at your support page and add UP to DATE information about all these DAW controllers.

Best Regards
Freddie

SSL Question: Which DAWs can be controlled from the console?

Answer Consoles support both the multi-port variant of the HUI protocol as well as the Mackie Control Protocol. Below is a table of supported DAW software and the number of DAW controllers available.
    http://www.solid-state-logic.com/music/duality/faq.asp

YES SONAR, SONAR 6 or 4 but not X2? SONAR X2 support Mackie Control Protocol but you need to program it yourself with X2?
You get the same answer with SSL Nucleus MATRIX too? What?
Who have the time build a control scheme for over 1000 variable DATA control to make things work in SONAR X2.
Then its easier to drop SONAR X2 and work with Cubase 6, 7 that is already fully supported.

If anyone have any experience on any of these Console / DAW controllers with X2 please share them.
I know EUCON Control Surface System 5-MC work with SONAR.

Also, if you are wrangling with studio set ups like the ones you have pictured, and you are worried that X2 "right out of the box" doesn't support them, then you probably should spend more time learning and spend less money on stuff you don't know how to use!
And, you should be getting tech support involved!

I have long time background of DAWs and studios Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools HD, Samplitude etc. I have years of experience using PRO gear, mixing and technical advisor, working with this for a living.
Yes, I have the right to wonder and it is a very legit question amd many more then me like to know. I consider SONAR X2 being a professional DAW like Cubase, LOGIC or have I missed something? This forum is very much a  technical support of anything regarding SONAR. In fact one of the biggest technical support assets Cakewalk have, is just this forum.

I think any control surface listed in sonars drop down list when selecting a control surface should work but I know they don't and its a shame cakewalk seems to think its acceptable to release new versions as complete with no concideration to these control surfaces. I understand its up to a manufacturer to create the code for thier surface to work with sonar. But once that's done, I think cakewalk should maintain the code when they make changes that will affect the control surface API. It's like they advertise a new control surface working with version so and so. Then the next update of sonar it's broken.

So basically I think cakewalk doesn't know themselves any more or just don't care. Maybe with more posts like these they will start doing a better job.

Before this gets crazy - I understand your "wondering" but using words like "needs to" and tossing in pictures of high end studios doesn't come across (to me) as wondering but more like demanding, threatening (I think you mention dropping Sonar) and a somewhat self important.

Anyway - to each his own.  I'm sure it was not your intention, I think, but the whole thing just came off kind of Troll like to me.

    No worries Brian! I understand!
No it was not my intention at all. I like SONAR X2 so it is not about that.

I just want to find some more info about the subject and let Cakewalk know about it and that we want support of it. After all we now flooding of new control surface and the DAW Controller segment grew even larger everyday.
Today its getting cheaper also so anyone can afford it not just the larger professional studios.
The new controllers /Consoles are fairly in reasonable prices too example.

SSl Nucleus should work and some controls you need to program it yourself. SSl Nucleus have better build quality than ARTIST Series.
SSl Nucleus controller are exactly the same controll panel you find at SSL MATRIX except for the layout.
