Has anyone tried Cthulhu in Sonar yet?
And if you did try it in Sonar, did you manage to get it to work? I can get it to operate "stand alone" (it's designed to output to another synth), but soon as I try and route it to another synth, Sonar crashes. I'm in contact with Steve at Xfer Records to try and resolve this. Thanks Nigel

I'm in contact with Steve at Xfer Records to try and resolve this. Thanks Nigel Please share your findings. In my case I can't load the 64-bit plugin. It crashes Sonar, unless I only load the MIDI channel only. The 32-bit plugin loads fine, and I can even hear the built-in synth, but I can't get the routing to work. Getting MIDI from one channel to another has always been a pain in Sonar, but I'm pretty sure I have it set up right ... the midi out is enabled and on the receiving track I have the Cthulhu plugin set as the input. Nothing, zip, nada. Very frustrating!
Did you spill something on your keyboard, or are you just happy to chat with me?

I'm in contact with Steve at Xfer Records to try and resolve this. Thanks Nigel I just bought it and yes the 64 bit version crashed here to. I confess to not reading the manual though. I ran the 32 bit version bitbridged and it seems to work fine though. It didn't install the way I would expect it to (as a synth, in the Fx bin). It configures as a synth, I inserted it into my project as a simple synth track - I enabled MIDI output when I inserted it into my project. I routed it to an instance of Kontakt 5 with a guitar sample set in my project - The only two tracks with input echo enabled are the Cthulhu track and the Kontakt 5 track it is being routed to. In the Chthulhu track here are my settings: Input Echo: On Input: Oxygen 61 (My Midi controller) Output To : Guitar Rig 5 - Kontakt 5 (GR5 is in my Kontakt 5 Track) Appears below all my soundcard outputs. Midi Channel: None Bank: Nothing selected Patch: empty In the Kontakt 5 Track my settings are: Input: Cthulhu 1 - Ch1 Output to: Master Midi Channel: None That's it - having fun at this point. Seems to work ok. I am going to turn down my monitors and try the 64 bit version again. Quite possible it was just my silly routing the first time.

64 bit version crashed here again using the method from the previous post. Definitely some bad MOJO in those extra 32 bits. LOL I also have LFO Tool and the 64 bit version of that is solid - so I am sure Steve will get it sorted out.

Hi Brando Thanks for this, confirms what I experienced. Still not heard back from Steve just yet. I run a 64bit system only these days. I also have the LFO tool and there are no problems with that. Cheers Nigel

I have just had emails with Steve - he asks if you have downloaded the new 64bit Beta - below is what he has said. I did download but still had issues. If you could post back appreciated Nigel From Steve The 64-bit crash (as far as I've been told) is only related to v1.0.0 - 1.01b5 available in the Cthulhu forum should fix that. The demo is 1.01b5 as well, FWIW

So - I just went to the forum and tried the link for Beta 5 (!!) and replaced my original 64 bit .dll with the beta. It works fine. I never did try the demo - I saw your post about the product and checked it out and because I liked LFOTool so much this seemed like a no-brainer - which I think it is going to be. FWIW in my limited playing with it last night (the 32 bit version bitbridged), I couldn't get much out of the chords option. This now seems to be working well in the 64 bit version. Please pass on my thanks to Steve for another great job. Nigel - are you getting crashes with beta 5 or is something else wrong?

Alright, all now OK - had some peace and quiet, went through and checked everything and noticed a mismatch on the channels - corrected this and now all working properly. Recorded Midi Chord output perfectly. Will now go and have a long play to familiarize myself. Already though I can see this could just be the start for Cthulhu - as it stands its random feature really stops you just doing the same thing over (as we all do I think) and future development could make this a fabulous tool for helping you move your compositions away from where they are at the present. Not quite sure if it will be really useful at the moment but it will certainly give ideas and make you think a little! Cheers Nigel

Hi Nigel - glad you got it sorted out. I agree it is going to take some playing with it to figure out its role and real world usefulness. Like LFOTool in that respect although clearly a different animal. It's got a lot of potential though and as usual when I start to play I lose track of way too many hours figuring it out. As a procrastinator at heart it makes it tough to get real work done. LOL. Steve is a smart cookie.
