interesting... did u see the 12 ratings the device got as a '1' on amazon and that it was useless? I'd try one that worked well with USB 3.0. It prob like the pos serial to usb converter i tried a few years back.

USB transfers data as packets, while Firewire transfers data as a steady stream. So I would wonder if there would be a problem trying to stream audio and converting that to a packet USB format. I honestly don't know the answer to this. or if the stream to packet thing is even an issue. I did see the one rating. I have seen in other places where people said they worked fine for taking the video off their camera and putting it on their computer. I don't know how well it would work in Sonar if at all. This would give some life into some older gear that I have sitting around.

The hubs you see are simply a combination of a firewire hub and a usb hub. Needs connecting to both a firewire and a usb port on the PC. There is no conversion. The amazon device is a sham. Reviews mostly say "didn't try it yet" or "doesn't work".

Actually the link I posted is a hub that plugs in to a USB port. it takes a power supply. It has one firewire connection on it. The only output on the hub goes to a USB 2.0 port. Now all of a sudden the link no longer works. I have been reading about these adapters, The power requirements for Firewire is higher then USB. Some people have fried hard drives using these things. I think it would just be better to get a Firewire card.
