Create an empty clip/how?

Searched my online help ("create empty clip", "draw clip", etc.) and the manual but can't seem to find what should be an easy answer...

How do you create an empty midi clip WITHOUT recording (like in Cubase where you just double-click between the markers), so that you can draw notes into the clip in the Piano Roll by double clicking on it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sonar (unlike cubase) does NOT have "empty clips" ..
you have to go to the piano rool view and start adding notes there .. or - record in step time some events and continue from there...

Hmmm - to MY knowledge, no can do - but I haven't been doing much MIDI work in recent years. In Cakewalk products, so far as I know, an armed and rolling MIDI track doesn't begin recording until it recieves an event

Someone else may have a better answer, but I know you could arm a track, hit record, tap any key on your controller, and just let it roll on for as long as you need the clip. Then you could go until Piano Roll and edit away.......Helpful?

You don't need to. Just open the piano roll and draw whatever and wherever you want. A bit more convenient with Cake.
