SOLVED - After Jamaica Plain, missing dll's!!!??? - SOLVED
After installing Jamaica Plain, when I try to start Platinum, I am suddenly getting a warning. It is titled "VSTScan.EXE - System Error" The warning says.... "The program can't start because ________ is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." The actual missing dll's that fill in the blank above are.... QtGui4.dll QtCore4.dll WavesLib_9.1_Win32.dll I have never had this before this update. I have no idea what the Qt ones even are. If I click through these warnings repeatedly, Platinum will open and, all seems to be fine. I'm stumped, and not amused. Anybody have any ideas? PS I am running Windows 7 and Sonar Platinum 32 bit

Qt is a cross platform GUI library http://www.qt.io/developers/I do not believe Cakewalk uses Qt libs but I suspect some plug-ins might. Does roll back make a difference?

Rolling back to Ipswitch did not help. I reinstalled Jamaica Plain and, it still does it.

Possibly a problem with Waves. I do not use Waves products but the third dll in your list might point that way and they might use a cross platform library like Qt.

Why would it just start after this Jamaica Plain update? I have never had this problem before.

Try..
Roll back. Then check the VST file paths in CCC settings AND Sonar preferences to see if they are correct. Then try installing again.

The weird thing is, it's calling out Waves 9.1. My Waves plugs are 9.2. I suspect the old 9.1 files are still being read by the scanner. Not sure how to remedy that.

I am having a similar issue except the scanner says it's looking for a 64-bit version of 9.2 when I have 9.3 installed. I direct it to the folder where 9.2 is located but Sonar simply will not "read" th file it is asking for. So I clicked "cancel", it scanned version 9.3 next and moved on. The JUST started with Jamaica.

If I understand correctly this is as intended. Are these VST2 versions of waves? If you read the release notes you will see that the scanner now always tries to load even the VST2 waves shells to check if they are authorized. If you had dead versions just sitting there previously it wouldn't try and check them because it thought they were up to date. Now we explictly load the shell to recheck it. This is why you are seeing the error if the dll's havent been properly installed. If you never use the old versions and they are actually bad installs you should uninstall them. The scanner is doing the correct thing by loading them.

Enhancement request. Would it be possible to get the scan to complete without stalling, and then show a report afterwards? i.e. Success/Fail. If fail detail failed plugins and DLL filenames? Possibly have repair options after that to rerun the scan "verbose" for failed plugins. Cheers...

That sounds like the proper resolution. The scanner was finding obsolete dll's that were not active anymore and therefore couldn't authorize.

Noel: Of course when an update brings to light something that you didn't even realize was a problem, it's frustrating. My initial resistance to having frequent updates was based on this. I have always been reluctant to change anything on a system that is stable and working fine. That said, I believe you guys have been doing a fantastic job with this! Any work interruptions I have incurred due to an update have been minor and pretty easily fixable. All in all, the amazing updates and upgraded features have been well worth it. Thank you!
