Hi Fellas
My first posting to a great site. Where can I upload a cover song for some well needed advice? I've read the soundclick terms and not sure if I'm allowed.

I see lots of covers on Soundclick, I think that warning is more legal protection for them than anything else. Just put "Songname (Cover)" as the description and upload it.

Zep,

It is legal cover, but they are enforcing it. I just got "challenged" by them to get a digital license from the Harry Fox Agency to put covers up. Depending on the song length, the charge varies but on average its about $.10 a play or download. Since I am not a pro musician, I have to make a judgement call if I want to invest in covers just for the fun of it. I'm in the middle of a project of Kansas covers from their 1st 6 albums and its a bit of a bummer but I don't have any animosity toward Soundclick..its in the interest of the song writer that they are pursuing folks covering tunes.

Hmmm.. I uploaded a "Songname (Cover)" and it went right thru. No mention of license or anything from them.

Oh well. If they can it, I'll know why :)

Hi Fellas
Thanks for your replies. I've got around it by just uploading the mp3 to my bit of personal webspace. setting a link to it and have by passed soundclicks on this occasion. It's not worth the risk or worth upsetting anyone.
