Cakewalk FXReverb EMT 140 Plate preset

Buried within another thread I came up with a reverb preset that loosely imitates UADs Plate 140 Reverb (Plate A, eq off). I thought I'd repost it for a la carte here for the gang. I'm actually surprised at how good this reverb sounds especially given its very modest CPU consumption. It's definitely an overlooked gem.

If you're gonna do an A/B comparison between the UAD and FxReverb it should be noted that the UAD's output is several db softer.

Enjoy.

    Thanks, Jonas!

I saw this yesterday in the other thread, and I've made a mental note to play with this when I get a minute. --Appreciate it!

    Hey Jonas,

I don't have the UAD Plate 140 to compare it to, but what you've come up with is very good.

Thanks for this and all of the other stuff you've kindly contributed.

Copied the settings into Cakewalk FX Reverb the other day, has a real nice sound. Used it very softly in an Aux send. Thanks Jonas!

Thanks jsaras. The settings are great! Thanks also for reminding me of this excellent Reverb. I hadn't used it in a while, and I had forgotten how good it is. I'm going to start using it again.

    Great stuff!

I'm working on a project right now and of all the reverbs I have at my disposal - I continiue to default to cakewalk FX reverb. I appreciate your time and efforts with this creation.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Jonas.

I am going to try setting this up for the Waves RVerb and TrueVerb as well.

BTW..... The Cakewalk plugins do work surpisingly well for most things.

I would appreciate a default killer vocal setting for the UAD EMT 140-including hi-pass/eq. Got one of those? Also for acoustic guitar, or a shall we say "house reverb" setting that you can apply a little to all instruments. ( as a reverb aux bus.) I will eventually get around to it, but if somebody has already done the homework I would love to see your sitings.

    Thanks

I just toyed around with RVerb again. I've forgotten how good that sounded. I kinda dismissed it as a one-trick pony, but what a trick it is!

TrueVerb is one of the most flexible and best sounding space-design tools I've encountered anywhere. Given two instances of this plugin I can do pretty much anything I'd ever need to do reverb-wise.

I've not toyed around with the EMT 140 enough to have developed any custom presets. I tend to like "Plate A" in general. Also, I've only used on one vocal track so far (Hannah Ford). I guess the good thing about this reverb is its simplicity of controls. Not too many things to play with and it generally sounds great right out of the box. The EMT has a unique complex shimmer on its tails and an unusual decay envelope that's just gold for vocals.z

I've haven't used it as a master reverb send yet.

Well.... Truth be told, Jonas, both verbs get a lot of usage here . And I just cannot see going with anything else when I do not have anything broken in the first place. I will use the Cakewalk verb for things as well.

It all comes to knowing the plugins and what they can and cannot do, right?

Well..... Using one's ears will also helps as well.

    God bless.
