the first thing I would do is check the OPTIONS>AUDIO selection and see which drivers are available and which one you are using. It sounds like you don't have a valid sound card selected and the drivers might point you in the right direction to find out why.

Yep, that could be your problem! What is your hardware set up? what kind of sound card are you using? what kind of CPU, RAM, etc?

Yes, and did you run the wave profiler yet? Be aware also, that some in the computer sound cards don't support MIDI. Greg

    From Cakewalk's support page:

Every time I start Music Creator, I get the message ‘’You have not selected any MIDI outputs”

    1. Select ‘Choose MIDI Outputs Now’ or go to Options | MIDI Devices
    2. In the Outputs box, select the MIDI hardware you wish to use as your output and press ‘Move Selected Devices to Top’. (In most cases, you will only see one output selection in addition to ‘Microsoft MIDI Mapper’. Microsoft MIDI Mapper cannot be used as an output. If this is your only selection, or you are not seeing any output selections at all, please move on to the FAQ topic “I can’t see my Audio or MIDI hardware in Music Creator” below)
    3. Click OK.

I can't see my Audio or MIDI Hardware in Music Creator

Several things may cause this problem:

By default Music Creator shows only the audio cards on your system that have WDM drivers installed. Follow the steps to enable Music Creator to access all of the audio drivers on your system.

Start Music Creator , click Options | Audio | Advanced Tab and select "Always Use MME..." Close Music Creator and restart. You should now see all MME audio devices.
Enabling this option will force the WDM driver to go through the slower MME interface. If you use only WDM driver devices, leave this option unchecked for optimum performance (lower latency).

Music Creator's AUD.INI file may have become corrupted.
Easy Fix - Close Music Creator and delete the AUD.INI file from the Music Creator folder. After restarting Music Creator you may need to point the app to your WaveData folder. (Options | Audio | Advanced Tab | Data Directory field)

Advanced Fix - Close Music Creator. Open Music Creator's AUD.INI file in Notepad. Delete everything listed beneath the line PictureDir=C:\Cakewalk Projects\Picture Cache
Save the file and restart Music Creator.

    Rob1990 & Field......

Sounds like you both are having soundcard problems.   The soundcards that come in most computers (from the factory) are simply NOT capable of handling the massive amount of data that we tend to send to them. As was pointed out above, some factory cards don't have midi inputs at all.

There is hope. You should visit Beagle's homepage and look at the aftermarket soundcards, also called Interfaces. A dedicated interface will most likely solve the problems that you are experiencing since that is what they are designed to do..... high quality audio AND midi from one interface.

They will open to you, the ability to record and playback audio and midi the way it should be done.

Expect to spend at least $100 for a basic card...and more with better cards with more features like nice preamps and multi channel inputs(more than 2) but as I tell everyone looking for a card...... buy the best you can afford and get what you will need ...because the interface you buy will be the heart of your studio.

First off you need to select a driver mode that the sound card has. Try MMe drivers first. That setting is under options audio. Once selected hit the wave profiler close and reopen the software. The make sure that the playback and record master timers are your sound card.

With MC2 you have Edirol VSC and with MC4 and or % you have rolands TTS synths set those up as the default synths in the synth rack.

Then point all midi tracks to those synths.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Did the Wave Profiler run when you installed SLE? It should have, and if it did and your system had problems, you would have gotten error messages, or messages that it just won't work.
Check under 'Options>Audio' that your sound card is listed as both the Record and Playback Timing Masters.
What operating system are you using? How fast is the computer? How much RAM does it have? What sound card are you using?
Also, it's best to post a new problem in your own thread (click the "Post New Thread" button in the top left) instead of a 4-year old thread, so it won't get lost. It will be easier for you to find once a few new posts are added to this one. The new post will always have your user name as the OP.
