Sonar 4PE vs Sonar 6PE

Hi all.

Can anyone suggest why Sonar 6 PE won't record audio "on the nail" whereas Sonar 4 PE will?

Example: I record a stereo drum track using a Zoom 223 via Tascam US-122. BPM set to 100 and 2 bar count off using audio metronome.

Sonar 4 PE nails beat 1 on bar 1.01.001 - great!!
Sonar 6 PE doesn't - it chops the first part of beat 1 off - thereby throwing the whole thing out of sync.

I use a P4 3.00ghz processor with the latest WDM drivers - and all non-essential windows services are disabled.

Anyone who can offer advice will help to keep what little hair I have left where it belongs.

    First of all, I've never started recording from the beginning of a track. I always start on bar 3 in case I jump the gun a smidge.

    SONAR 6 has a feature that attempts to compensate for latency while recording. This is to overcome the time lag incurred in the round trip the audio takes as it's played back and monitored while overdubbing. Sometimes it guesses wrong. <Once again, when you leave the thought process up to a piece of software you leave yourself open to interpretation.> There is an adjustment for this in the Audio Options. You might try some different offsets to see if this helps. There is a known bug concerning Auto punch in/out where this automatic shift in time doesn't compensate for the offset in this setting. You might be seeing a symptom of this bug.

    Are you using th WDM drivers for both Apps? The ASIO drivers have this effect in Sonar.

    Thanks also for responding. Yes, the same WDM drivers for both apps - although I uninstalled 4PE before running 6.
