[track] Oases

I originally wrote this back in 2004 I think... But this week I slightly remixed/remastered it. Thought I'd share :D

Oases

I guess the genre would be some type of new-age perhaps.

Curious to hear any comments! Cheers :D

    Jeremy,

nice sounds. The song is thick and seems almost to full for newage but definitely shares some of the same elements. I like this track, it is very emotional and moving. The only thing I didn't like was the switching of beats. I think the more straight beat could drive the track all the way home.

    Hey 3Eo,

    Thanks for listening :D

By switching of beats, you liked the initial beat and would prefer no variations? Hmm, I programmed that soo long ago - perhaps you are right. The track certainly doesn't call for anything complex percussion-wise.

Very meditative feeling to this one. I like when the plucked string comes in in the middle of the piece. Bring it in a little sooner and rather than the drums and cymbals have hand percussion like tabla or the Dimension congas. Bring the percussion in earlier too.

    Hey SLC,

I agree more ethnic percussion would be nice... I'll try that next time :D

    Thanks for listening!

I just saw a show called Ashes and Snow. The music they played was similar to this, but even more minimal.

Instruments / Sounds / Effects: 8 (very evocative)
    Arrangement / Patterns / Notes: 7
    Vocals: n/a
Mixing / Mastering / Production: 7.5 (seemed a bit narrow, perhaps)
    [5 fair, 7 good, 8 great, 10 floyd]

To think, at one time P5 was a $429 MSRP app.

Cool, thanks for the review :) I agree the mix is a bit narrow - I mix on headphones mostly which lends to this effect. When I master I use a stereo widener to compensate for the fact most people listen on speakers - but I guess I didn't get it quite wide enough this time.

    Thanks for listening!
