track dead spot

i have a synth track that suddenly has a 10 measure stretch where the notes are not played.  just silence.  they worked previously.  the many measures before this spot and the measures afterward are fine.

i have made sure the volume, velocity, pitch range for the synth are fine.  the output is to the same bus as before.  nothing changed there either.  also, in a previous version of the project with the same notes it plays fine.

anyway ideas on what could be causing this new problem?  i don't think i changed anything from when it was working.

thanks.

Are the notes that won't play on a separate clip than the others?

they are on the same clip.  it's happening with 2 distinct clips actually.  when i slide them to another part of the track, or when i remove the volume envelope, they still don't play the same section of notes on each clip.

i deleted the clips and input new notes, and yet in the same section the notes are not heard.

Are the envelopes in the synth track (volume envelope) or the MIDI track (velocity envelope)?
Check the MIDI track(s) event lists to see if there is an event that mutes the tracks, like a velocity envelope that came from nowhere.

Try routing the Midi track to a different soft synth and see if it still does it.

i cut the clips (including the automation), then re-pasted them (using the replace option) and voila, it works again.

if i cut without cutting the automation, it does not work.

does that suggest what the problem was?

btw, i don't know enough about the event list as to what to look for there.

maybe just a fluke in the automation.  I've seen something like that occassionally.
