track envelope
I'm probably being dense, but I cant seem to be able to insert a simple track volume envelope in SONAR XI. In previous versions, you simply highlighted the track and rigt-clicked and inserted the envelope. I'm sure this is a simple solve, but please help. Thanks. R

Click the edit filter in the track header and select from the drop down.

What you're looking for is the "Clips" pull-down menu on the track you want to add an envelope. Then select "Automation" and "Volume". The rest will be familiar. That's it, that's all.

Thanks. But again, I'm missing something. Where is the "clips" pull down menu on the track ? Thanks for your time.

Make sure that "All" is selected towards the top of the TV. You should be able to see the edit filter then in each individual track header.

If you can't see it, you probably need to select "all" in the drop down that controls the track view. This is on the left side of the track view, next to the box that shows the the now time (not the one in the control bar). I would bet on this currently being set to "custom" or something. Increasing the height of a track will show you all the stuff in the track header. Once you have the main view control set to "all", the Edit Filter should be the first item there, a drop down box that by default is set to "clips". Click that and you'll see there's a menu item for "automation", with a sub-menu of all the different kinds of automation you can do on that track. Note that this drop down chooses what you're editing. So if at some point you can't edit automation you've created, this is the first place to look.
