track manager not visible in console view

This is a new issue I've never run into before.  On certain projects I can't open track manger in the console view.  It opens fine in track view though in console view I push "m" & nothing comes up.  In track view I've tried syncing track & console view & it makes no difference in the console view.

I've also searched this topic in the forum and found another post regarding this topic though the suggestions had to do with running dual monitors & I'm not.  Anyone run into this problem?  Anyone know of another way to open track manager besides "m"?

Thanks,

Make sure its not off screen by raising your screen resolution. This way you can see more realestate and drag it bad into the center, if thats what it is. Then just set your resolution back to where it was.
Also look behind the console view. It could be hiding there.

Also, make sure the M is keybind to make the console view come up in the console view..

I've tried all these options CJ suggested & on certain projects the track manager is still not popping up in the console view.

In the track view it shows up no problem.  As an experiment I checked the sync console & track view windows box & the tracks I want to disappear in the track view go away though not in the console view.  Console view is unchanged.  Any additional thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks

Not sure if this is same issue but I have found certain things go missing when you have started with a template that did not include a particular option.
I normally start with using a custom template that started life as the 4 track template.  It  always had the Master, EFX send 1&2 and metronome buses in the bottom buss pane view. Then one day I was working on a new project I'd opened direct from a MIDI file.
There is no way I found to add those controls. I have also noticed the same goes for that Track Manager side bar. It boils down to the lack of the ability to overlay a template on an existing project.

So it does show up on some projects. This makes me thing its off screen and was saved off screen on those projects. But if you raised your screen resolution and it was not off to the side , bottom or top of the screen, then i really dunno!!!

This might be it.  Until recently I've always started new projects from custom templates.  Lately (since I've noticed this problem occuring), I've been taking these templates, adjusting inputs & such for the task at hand and re-saving/replacing the template with the new changes.  I wonder if this is the culprit?  Interesting.

Is there any other way of accessing the track manager besides "M"?

I messed around and ya, I could access it using M on the same templates that show the buss pain but not on the ones I had created using OPEN for a MIDI file. Interesting eh! And your right, I can't find an alternate  toggle either? Some one?

    Sounds like a bug.

Shame it won't ever be fixed (in 8.5.3)

With a hammer, skill saw and a welding torch I should be able to fix it right up:)

I wonder if this bug exists in x1?

I don't know if I'd call it a bug. Just some code missing. A bug is bad code.
Someone forgot to add a toggle for a few features. You could use Sonar for years and never stumble across it.

Funny that I didn't notice that before.  I've always accessed the Track Manager from the track view and later key binded it to "cntrl+M" because I use "M" alone to go directly to the mix console.  Never thought I wouldn't be able to find it on the tool bar, but it does disappear.  I guess I'll have to get X1 for it to find it's way back??

I ran into this issue on a MIDI file I downloaded from the net. Tried all the suggestions offered, nothing worked. Never
have this problem with sessions I start from scratch so it must be some formatting issue with the file. If I figure it out I'll
    post the solution.

It would seem some things are only available with a template as a starting point. But because you have to "open"  a MIDI file or you will loose all the settings the original author embedded a template is not an option. It leaves you in a bare bones situation. I guess this might be the only situation where this happens, but a lot of us mess around with those wonderful free MIDI files. I have to learn a bunch of Beatles songs for this Saturday nights gig and if you think I'm starting from scratch!

    Johnny,
I always "open" the MIDI file because I have Windows configured to associate a MIDI file with Sonar. I wonder if
importing the file into a new session would fix this?  Give it shot with one of you beatles tunes, let us know what happens.

FYI... I imported a MIDI file I found off the net into a new project. Track manager works fine on both views. So the trick is not to just open a MIDI file, but import it. At least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

With audio track projects I found a workaround by re-saving the project as a slightly different name, for example mix1 to mix2 and the console track manager that didn't appear in mix 1 reappears in mix 2.  This automatically makes mix 2 my preferred mix:)

Importing a MIDI file into a open project will remove the tempo and some other data. It overlays the MIDI data on your template so if your project template is set at 100BPM that's what it will play at.. Sometimes this is OK as you then just figure out the tempo by guessing.  but if the file has tempo changes etc it may not play the way the author intended.
I sometimes will open the file with Power Sequencer, look at the event list and make notes regarding tempo and Pg ( instruments) , , then import to Sonar. You can also drag and drop a MIDI file onto the Track view as long as one blank MIDI track exists. But it too will loose some data.
