It's probably just personal taste but I think that the current bass synth ought to be "split out" into separate synced sound sources, leaving the mid-range more for the other instrumentals to come to the fore. The bass line appears to be overwhelming the other instruments across a wide spectrum spectrum.

What about a slightly quieter but sharper top-end waveform (maybe a high-Q passband on your current bass synth), accompanied by a more subtle deep bass to reinforce the sound?

    Just a thought

    Brendan.

Most of it sounds good to me. Personal taste... I like the transitions at :28 and 2:58 the least in the song.

It sounds like you're trying to cram 10 lbs worth of song into a 5 lb box. I think you need to have the elements that are there carry more of their own weight, instead of bringing in another sound on top of a sound that could be fleshed out more. I didn't time the events, but I think I agree with fschmierer - plus that synth in particular doesn't fit with the rest of the song, in my opinion. I think the sounds are good, I just dont think some fit with the others. Salmon and chocolate cake may both be good, but I wouldn't want to eat a chocolate salmon cake. My 2¢.

To think, at one time P5 was a $429 MSRP app.

pretty heavy stuff. I think that you only really want the bass and drums if the bass is that strong. The melodic bit I like much better as it sounds much more clear.

    thanks for the honest reviews.
most of the points made I agree with...though I like the synth sound. I tried to clean it up a bit...but it still sounded off last night. but this morning when i played it in my car stereo...it sounded fine, and now its starting to grow on me.

I will try and use the advice given, and remix....but now its on to other projects :)

    thanks everyone....:)

:10:, may not be your best work, but its pretty darn good. For my personal taste, the transition at around 3:00 sounds much better now.

Well, it certainly lives up to it's name.

I liked the "melody" (for lack of a better term) that was slightly buried under the noise. A bit harsh at times perhaps, but the Dimension strings breakdown in the middle was a welcome respite. You might try repeating that texture at fade-out (lose the percission sooner in the fade).
