trouble reading plug ins

Hello to All,
Quite awhile ago I bought Home studio 2 and used it for several years.  I didn't use the program for awhile but have recently gotten back into it.  I have the program working fine using a laptop, Windows 7 and an older M-Audio Pre Mobile unit.  However, I've used the vst adapter (got the latest update) and it recognizes the plugins when configuring, but when I open the program I can't find them to use.  I am running a 64bit laptop now and was running a 32 bit previous to this, don't know if that makes a difference.  So can anyone help me with regard to having the cakewalk program recognize these plug ins that the adapter says are ready to go.  The program is really much more than I have ever used so I'm really not looking to upgrade. Thanks to all for any help.  Happy New Year!

OK, I figured it out! After numerous attempts and downloading the latest patch I went back to the VST Adapter, checked properties and set it to run as XP service pack 3. The computer was able to process all the vst that I have from past years, and these were numerous, and now Home Studio 2 is reading them.  I'm a happy guy! Perhaps this will be of help to someone else.  The program may be outdated by today's standards but for my needs it does so many cool things and I've never even scratched the surface of what it can do!
