trying to import mp3's into sonar (out of memory!?)

Hey guys

So I was just trying to import some audio into sonar for sampling purposes when I ran into a problem. It won't import any mp3 audio or play it through the media browser. When I try it just says "out of memory," and then nothing happens. It's very strange because I have at least 1.4gb free when this happens. So is there something I'm not doing here which I'm supposed to be. Thanks for any help that anyone can give me with this :)

There's something here that may be relevant:

I've had that error and I think it was to do with bit depths or samplerates
being different to the project, but this was on WAV not MP3.

    HTH.

Thanks ericyeoman. I checked out the link at it seems that I was trying to import an mp3 which was protected. Other mp3's don't seem to have any problem.

Yeah - sometimes MP3 files can be a bit weird, and sometimes just converting an MP3 to another MP3 file fixes things.  Or, as posted above, just create a wav file from the MP3 and it should import just fine.

I remember a video posted by "DustyPuppy" a long time ago, that stated that if you were having a difficult time importing a MP3 file, to just drag it to the track view and that Sonar would automatically convert to a wav file.
    Does this still exist?

They should be the same conversion, but is worth a shot. Also running SONAR as/not as Administrator (try both) may help. I only recall seeing this once but seem to recall the Administrator issue playing a part in it.
