two sound cards.. is it possible?

I currently have emu 0404. Bought about a month ago the VRM Box from Focusrite. Only way I can use the VRM, is if I go into Vista 64 device driver, and disable the emu. Would rather just go into sonar audio and swithc the output , but if EMU is enabled, the vrm is greyed out in there. Unable to select it. Focusrite has replied back they have never heard of this happening before. Asked me to download another DAW, to see if I get same results..... Sadly... it works ok in Reaper.. so it must be a Sonar thing.. anyone have a fix?

Pentium 4,
Vista Premium 64 bit
Dual Quad
8 gigs of ram
Delta 44
Sonar Producer 8.5.3

Have you tried using the SP/DIF connection?
Make sure you have an SP/DIF output strip inserted in Patchmix, and you should be able to route the sound to the VRM.
If you are using ASIO with the 0404 (as you should be), only one interface is allowed.
Reaper most like started up with WDM.

You can only use one ASIO device at a time. As said you need to use WDM. With USB interfaces it is not a problem to swap interfaces live, Sonar will first warn you that the first one was unplugged, then ask permission to use the new one. BUT,, this certainly does not apply to PCI cards. You have to physically remove them from the machine. Not sure how firewire goes.
