ugh why did i bother?

I have always been a "if its not broke don't fix it" person... I don't upgrade stuff on my daw for no reason.. cos after all, you just never know.. ok fine ..call me a wus

but ..

but then my office pc died, so I got a new one..and its better than my daw..and so some fool suggested to himself to do a double swap... new pc = daw.. and daw pc = office...
so.. here I am, several days into loading software, fw boards usb boards gazillion gb of stuff and still about 20 programs and utilities to go.. ..never mind license transfers...sigh

oops DVD #12 to go in!...

Oh yeah, I feel your pain there alright. Mine died on me last year, typically just after I'd had it checked over by a pc specialist who'd given it a clean bill of health (conspiracy theory anyone?) and it took me a whole weekend just to get back to where I already was. The only good news is that it was actually worth it in the end.

    You have my sympathies too.
I'm part way through a new PC build as well as my first move to Win 8.1 straight from Win 7 as well as Sonar X3.

I have so much stuff to install. At least I don't have to reinstall all my sample libraries just the programs and plugins. One little step at a time.

I sure hope "system image" works, if need be. Never used it but keeping
that up to date this time around.

My last run which started with X3 on a clean, new PC has just been the smoothest
setup yet and the days it took were sure worth the effort.

There are times when I'm tempted to reformat my hard drive and start over with everything new & fresh, but I'm scared.

A question - if I did decide to do this, would there be any issues with overclocking? My DAW was overclocked by Carillion. Now, I believe all this sort of stuff is handled by the BIOS and nowhere near the OS or anything on the hard drives.

    Anyone care to confirm?

Ouch.  I'm about to do the same thing, and upgrade my whole setup.  Moving from Producer 8.5 to X3 at the same time, just to get a learning curve while I'm reloading and setting up.

Mystic, i hope it was worth it!
