unfinished song (help)

I am having a hard time coming up with a vocal melody for this song. Maybe I should just fill up the silence and leave it an instumental. What do all of you think. Thanks

Its funny, I just closed out another web page where I was sending an email attachment of a short article I had written. I sent it to "Sojourners" magazine (they take submissions by email). I had never submitted anything to them before and was a little apprehensive doing it. Then I click on the Songs forum here and the first post I see at the top of the page is by a guy who's just made his first post at Cakewalk and goes by the user name of "sojourn". Now what are the chances of that? It makes me feel like somebody up there is watching out for me.

I think your tune can work either way. I can only suggest listening to some of Kerry Livgren's stuff for ideas. He wrote a lot of music in a similar vein after Kansas when he was in AD. And you know what a terrific lyricist he was/is.

Thanks Joe, I did listen to some Kansas stuff back in the day, although not a huge fan. I was more into Zeppelin, Sabbath, BTO,etc. More guitar oriented stuff. Anyway, I will take a listen to Kerry's stuff and see if I can learn something. Thanks again.

Joe, I didn't mean Kansas wasn't guitar based. They just had a lot of keyboards and vocal harmonies. I was lucky if I could find one other person that rocked and could sing. And I have only played with one keyboard player in my 47 years, and he was just adequate.

Kerry was equally at home on guitar and keyboards. I'm not a fan of the heavier stuff but if that's your bag you might want to look for his only solo record, "Seeds Of Change". It was pretty heavy and well done. Ronnie James Dio sang on several tunes.

Can you give me a single line to start with or an idea of what you want the song to be about ?
