You need to go to options/audio and choose it as the audio record device.

I have an incredibly stupid question. I know it is going to be something easy that I will need to wipe the duh off my face, but here goes. I just installed my C01U mic as well, I can locate the driver, selected the input device, yatta yatta, but I can barely hear any vocal recording. I notice when I selected the MME 32 bit I was no longer able to hear the music. After messing around I was able to once again hear the music, however now I can only hear a very low vocal recording. I try to increase the volume on the left hand side as well as making sure the correct mic input is selected, but nothing is working. Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong?
    Thanks a million.

Did you download the applet at
    http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1810&brandID=2

I installed the applet for the Samson, plugged in the mic to the usb port and my windows automatically updated and located the driver on its own. However now that I think of it, maybe I need an updated driver in my system. Are you operating on windows xp, 98 or the awful one from 2000? I already had the cakewalk installed prior to getting the samson. I purchased a head phone with a mic at best buy and it was terrible. I could record and hear the music, but there was so much feedback and static that's when I looked for something better. Now if I could hear the vocals everything would be perfect.... :)

I am sorry not to be of any help, I have never fooled with a USB mike, I find it easier to buy a conventional mike. I have seen several users here struggle with USB mikes. I would suggest e-mailing Tech support.

Have you been able to get the creator to find your mic? I was able to hear and record vocals earlier today. Just wanted to let you know that you wiped the duh off my face. I knew it was something stupid, and of course, it was setting the volume on the audio device through the control panel. Now it's just a matter of getting use to the software. Somehow I managed to mess up the tempo, so the vocals don't line up with the background music. I can't even get the tempo beat to mute!
