using fade with virtual instruments

I am a novice using Cakewalk music creator 6.
I have an axiom midi controller.
I easily use the fade with any audio I have created but can not seem to use the fade with the
tracks that I created using virtual instruments. Instead of fade it drags the entire end of the track.
Help?

    are you doing fades with envelopes?

    I use them and they work on audio as well as midi tracks. It's easy to set the fades by inserting nodes and simply dragging them where they are needed.

    in this pic, I use them to fade the instruments at the end of the song/tracks.

    Turn your midi into audio and as Guitar sez above you can use your fades etc.  There is vol control via midi, but the audio fades are just dog easy.
