    audio or midi?

if audio, I'd use a volume envelope on the track and create nodes around that note and pull down the envelope in that note area.  this is difficult to explain without pictures.  look in the help file for creating volume envelopes and how you create nodes around certain time areas.

if MIDI, I'm guessing you want a decay?  hmmm.  I might do the same thing then, make an envelope on the SYNTH OUTPUT TRACK in that area.

as long as the notes aren't 16th notes.... fades are OK on the longer duration notes like whole + ....

volume envelopes can also be used in midi tracks,,, actually they are in the audio track for the synth, but they will work in that environ as well.

And if it's MIDI, and a chord, just right-click the note you want to fade and decrease the note's duration.
If it's a note of a chord in an audio track, I don't think there's any way to do that... maybe an EQ envelope, if that's possible.

melodyne handles the audio... but that is a third party piece of software.

+1 on the note properties note duration.... I use that all the time as one of my midi editing tools.

if MIDI: It dipends on the patch generated by the synth, try to modify the value of the "note off" event of the notes you want to fade. If the synth interprets the value, it could work.
