vs880 as control surface?

I have an old roland vs 880ex. Does this have any use as a control surface for Sonar? Does anyone do this out there?

if your vs-880 and your soundcard have midi-ports.
you will be able to use your vs-880 to control some parameters in sonar, like playback, rewind ect...
and probably you will able to assign the fader-volume,pan.
    you can see this thread:

I use the Audigy 2 zs sound Card to play my MP3 for home entertainment. Would like to add the
E-MU 1820M or the Motu ultralite fire wire ,to the same computer. Is anyone using a set up similar to this or will I have to buy
another computer to use both sound cards Thank you

I use my 1680 as a mixer. I also use some of the effects.

Other than that, I record everything on SONAR. Slaving is such a pain in the ass.

Transport yes, but the faders depend on wether it sends midi out or not. The 840 doesn't I know, and I'm pretty sure the 1680 does, but I'm not sure about the 880.
