vst softsynth (Kontakt) always on top?

This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to defeat the 'always on top' nature of the Kontakt screen?  I know it can be minimized, but on my system that puts it to another screen and a long mouse move to get it back ... I'd rather have it just go 'under' sonar (x3) just like a different application would do.  Then I can click its edge and get it on top.

The X-Series way would call for docking the UI if it was necessary to keep it open. Otherwise, it is possible to disable floating and make SONAR work like an older windows app. The control in the upper left-hand corner of all the floating windows in SONAR has an option to disable floating.

Thank you that helps.   I have to say, seeing things like "the X-series way" just makes me mad.   Software should do what the user wants, not what the developer wants.   Things like this make me laugh when I see the post "vote for the best DAW".   Not likely, even though I'm a long time user.

The only way to have software do exactly what you want is to write it yourself even then you may find issues that force the implementation away from the design concept. Otherwise, one can try to make software submit to a preconceived workflow, learn to use it as designed or find something else that is a better fit.

Sounds like when you say "the user" you mean you. In this case I (representing at least 1 user) like ths 'X3 way' that Scook refers to, and it works very well. I especially appreciate this on my touch screen where I can switch easily between console view and several soft synths, each anchored and one touch away.

Lots of folks expressed initial dislike of the X-series user interface rewrite in Sonar, but many of those same people have come back to indicate they ended up liking it better than the 8.5.3 way of doing things, once they got past the learning curve and put some project mileage into X3.

I hope you end up coming to like the new ways of doing some things - and if not, I wish you the best in finding another set of software that better fits your approach to wanting to accomplish things.

It might happen.  Humans, even including me, are pretty adaptable.   I just don't like the "it's the x way" statements, and as a very new member of the forum I've already gotten such statements several times.

Maybe they are trying to tell you something. Don't worry about me suggesting another solution based on Skylight again.

There are thousands of programs with no customization whatsoever (or pretty much zero), so you must be incredibly frustrated or own few programs. Not only are you at the developer's mercy with them, but have no forum or feedback loop to the company in more cases than not.

People here try to help others, but truth isn't always going to make people happy.
