v-studio with Vista x64

Are there any known issues running Sonar V-Studio with Windows Vista x64 sp1?

I ask because I get erratic behavior with Sonar 8.02 on Vista x64 using instrument plug-ins such as TruePiano and Arturia synths.

Are there issues that are fixed with the upcoming 8.3 release?

I am very interested in Sonar V-Studio but would not be happy paying $4K and getting flakey results.

I would assume that 64 bit Vista would be heavily tested by Cakewalk for an expensive product such as V-Studio. Why buy such expensive hardware and still be subjected to limitations of the 32 bit address space? The upcoming Windows 7 is essentially the Vista foundation with tweaks.

I currently run on:
Dell T3400
Intel quad core Q9450
8GB Ram
Vista x64 sp1
e-mu 1820M
UAD-2

    Hi Chris,

I'm assuming the plugins you are having problems with are 32-bit plugins running under Bit-Bridge - is that so? Are you using the full version of TruePianos or the Cakewalk Amber Module that comes with SONAR 8? If it is the included version, there will be an x64 update in the forthcoming SONAR 8.3 update. If it is the full version are you running the x64 native one?

Can you describe what issues you are having with Arturia synths?

    Brandon,

Apparently even the Fantom VS synth plug-in won't work with Sonar x64 according to recent information posted by a Cakewalk guy on this forum. It appears that Cakewalk needs to boost the priority of getting BitBridge improved to support 32 bit plug-ins under Sonar running as a x64 application. BitBridge is apparently unable to run the Fantom VS synth plug-in and there isn't a 64 bit version of the plug-in.

The point in buying a high end PC and high end V-Studio is to be able to take advantage of RAM > 4GB and improved native 64 bit performance.

Does Sonar v8.3 have an improved BitBridge? If not, it needs to happen sooner than later. Being a software developer myself I have a feeling your guys can do it if it is given the proper priority.

I don't mean to give Cakewalk people a hard time. I just want to know that the combination of Sonar and V-Studio is solid running on Vista x64 so I can buy one sooner than later. I was going to buy a V-Studio the other day. Then I read the new information about the limitation of Fantom VS not being compatible with Sonar x64. I am waiting on feedback from Cakewalk to see how this is going to be resolved in the future and when.

    Thanks
