vstudio700 and sony vegas

Hi,

Has anyone got the jog wheel to work on the v700 with sony vegas?

You can set up vegas to think its a mackie universal but all sorts of things wont work (jog wheel, save button, etc...)

also, what is the midi i/o # for the jog wheel?

or is there a resource that shows all the midi i/o # for the vstudio in general

Thanks!

What version of Vegas are you using?

Have you activated the Options > External Control feature? That must be turned on (have a checkmark next to it in the menu) in order for Vegas respond to a control surface.

    Im using vegas 9.

I have the external control button activated and have it configured as a mackie universal.

I can get the vstudio faders to work but not the jog wheel.

Yeah, I got the jog wheel to work. The key was to have it set up as a emulated Mackie control device.

Under Preferences/External Control & Automation - highlight the device listed as "Mackie Control", right click and select "Configure"

With the emulated Mackie control device selected, set both MIDI input/output to "CONSOLE (V-700)" These are enabled under the Preferences/MIDI tab. This doesn't map everything but the core controls, including jog are there.

Thanks, I have both the 100 and 700 - very impressed by the quality on both. One disappointment I have is while the 100 supports Mac, 700 does not and neither one support virtual machine mode, where I have Sonar working in Windows 7 64 bit using Parallels.

That said, on my laptop running XP, no complaints at all! Been using Sonar for a long time and it's really improved my work flow using the 700. I'm also anxious to see more ARX cards come out.
