v-vocal plays from beginning instead of time indicator duriong recording

When I have a recording with v-vocal tracks and am punching or starting to record from somewhere other than the beginning, the v-vocal tracks play from the beginning instead of the current time setting. Is there a setting to change this behavior (I can mute the V-Vocal and unmute the underlying original recording, but it's a pain to keep going back and forth between recording and auditioning the mix).

Thanks,

Kurt

Actually, you should be bouncing your V-Vocal tracks before recording more tracks. That, or wait until you've completed all your vocal tracking before performing any V-Vocal edits.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Absolutely +++1111 to what Bitflipper said. If you have V-Vocal or any similar (Auto-Tune, Melodyne) active in the project you're very likely to get problems sooner or later. Worst case scenario is getting your audio files corrupt or messed up otherwise. IMO always bounce V-Vocal clips as soon as possible, and don't do any recording or complicated edits when it's active in the project.

I don't know why this is. Maybe because what those pitch-shifting/formant - and note length editing VSTs do is simply a task so heavy and complicated that the tolerance for hickups is very low.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
