watching Buena Vista Social club is good stuff

I've seen it a few times... I like it better each time.

I just can't get over how plaintive and real life the lyrics are... maybe if I understood Spanish I'd hear the lyrical tricks and obvious rhymes... but simply listening to the melodies and reading the subtitles leaves me in awe that the musicians have such a deep appreciation of the value of a simple idea.

Plus they make cigar smoking look cool!

It's like medicine.

    I watch that movie a couple of times a year.  I even went to Havana because of the music. 
    Came back with a set of bongos and a taste for $50 rum and $75 cigars.

    I almost got to Cuba once... but missed the chance... as the Captain of the boat I was scheduled to sail on got sick before the planned departure.

    One of my few regrets.
