wav projects to mp3 - some "wobbliness"

I am noticing when I convert my wave file projects (from CD) to mp3, some seem to have a slight "wobbliness" (if that means anything!!?)  to them on playback - on an mp3 player or computer player. Wondering if there is some setting issue I am not aware of when converting, or what???

    there should be no wobbles.

i rip mp3's using CDEX regularly, always works great.
    look into that one.

Make sure you haven't selected a low bitrate.
Consider 128 bare minimum. Anything below that can cause some serious wobbles.

I was noticing a "shimmering" in certain piano notes in songs that wasn't there on the wave version. I started converting all MP3 to 320kb and it went away.

Low bit rates are problematic with mp3's that will be posted online in places like soundclick where they use the 128kb rate for the streaming. Send the highest bit rate mp3 that will fit in the 10mb size limit. Sometimes I have to back off the 320 to the next down so it's less then 10mb. but it still sounds good.

Hey thanks for this info !! I am glad I'm not the only one noticing this mp3 phenom.

If batsbrew is still watching - I downloaded CDex, but the help file would not open. I got my tracks converted, but then could not figure out how to get them saved / moved out of CDex to a place where I could put them onto my mp3 player??? maybe you can help me with that.

    on CDEX-

    try F1
that should bring up the help.

    if it doesn't, i'd try re-installing.

    on saving files:

    under:
    options>>
    settings>>
    Generic

you can tell it where the temp file locations are to be...

under "Filenames", you define the beginning and ending folder locations.
i set up two folders, for the original file, and the ripped mp3, that way they're segregated automatically.

i always encode at 320k, and use lightningMP3.com, or Soundcloud to upload and host, because they'll let you upload full files, and stream them that way.

places like myspace, or Soundclick, will take a higher bitrate file, and then re-configure it back to 128, and then stream that.
and it sounds of @ss, i'd avoid those altogether.

    hope that helps..

Do you tried making an MP3 without going to CD first ? That would be the best way to do it. There are a number of things that can go wrong during a CD rip.
