wavelab functions in other software?
I've heard lots of good things about wavelab including the analysis functions that give you RMS and channel frequency balance information, etc. is wavelab the only software that does that?

Have a look at Wavosaur. It's very similar to Soundforge 4.5, but it has extra diagnostic tools including a variety of spectrum representations. I haven't looked recently, but it used to be free or at least pretty cheap.

The genius of Wavelab is it's workflow enviroment. I like the way you can chain all sorts of 3rd party plugiins as well as the native ones... in real time. It displays their respective GUIs in all their glory and they can be minimized in situ. It's metering tools are second to none and combined with those of TRacks 3 and SPAN there's plenty of data to digest. I haven't tried Wavelab 7 yet, still on six.

thanks, Anubis - wavelab's level structure is confusing to me. Wavelab 6 Wavelab Essential 6 Wavelab Studio 6 then the new ones Wavelab 7 Wavelab Elements 7 which have the analysis tools and which ones correlate from 6 to 7? did they do away with the studio version?

In previous versions of Sonar I could open Wavelab from within sonar and edit clips. I don't see how to do that in X1. Can anyone address this?
Sonar X1 Expanded (x64), Win 7 64-bit, ASUS N53S laptop, intel core i7, 8GB RAM, MOTU 828mk3,Outboard preamps, etc.
