wearing glasses and headphones
after a while is so uncomfortable. I wonder why a company hasn't come up with something to help with this, as I'm sure I'm not he only one wearing glasses and wearing headphones for long periods of time? after a while the "arms" of the glasses really start to hurt the sides of my head.

My HD 250's are pretty comfortable with my glasses on. Just had to loosen the headband a bit so they didn't have my skull in a death grip.

I was thinking that to Beag, Have you seen them huge cushoins on the cans they are using on the X-Factor. I think they are the new Sony Head Phones. Not sure how good they would be for mixing though

I'm guessing here but I think the glasses go on your eyes and the 'phones on the ears. Thats how I'd play it. Oh, I have to put the glasses on first otherwise I can never find my 'phones.

[hand waving to the riff raff...] beepster - the HD280's aren't bad and I can wear them longer than most, but they still hurt my head after a while. the most comfortable ones I've ever worn are the HD515's but they're not for critical listening - they're for pleasure listening only. of course, pleasure listening is what I'm doing at work and that would help, but I also don't want to leave expensive headphones laying around at work either. Mike - no, I don't watch a lot of TV, but that might be good with bigger cushions. the cushions on the HD515's are fabric and that's one thing that helps, I believe, because they're not "plastic" or "imitation leathery type stuff that wraps the cushion. pliable as they are, they're still not as pliable as woven fabric. of course, the HD515's even if they were made for critical listening, tend to break easily on me. I have gone thru 2 pair and have not replaced the last ones. they tend to break at the plastic part where the head gear meets the ear piece.

Woo hoo! I'm not riff raff... in this thread. ;-p But yeah... problem is when you're dealing with true closed backed cans they gotta be tight. Senns seem to have a good rep for not crushing one's noodle. And yeah... I screwed up the model number. Bleach fumes are something something potato... derp.

Beagle, I'm in that same boat... Have an old pair of the HD 580's and with those cushions it isn't bad at all, but again, those are open phones, not closed. Maybe someone can design "glassophones" where the glasses somehow attach to the headband, and swing down into position? That could be one way to eliminate the problem.

My AKG K240's are the only cans I've found that never cause problems with my glasses. I really wanted some ATH50 cans but they were a bit uncomfortable with glasses so I'm sticking with the over ear AKG's. I can wear them for hours without discomfort.

hmm, then maybe it's just the shape of my head and my glasses, then? they always hurt me after extended use just forward of my ears where the glasses arm will be pressed against my head as they enter between the headphone cup and my head.

FYI, I have the same situation--sometimes it bothers me, but not as much as it bothers you. Some good Senheisers and some cheap Sonys.

Beagle, I would think a regular monocle would be difficult since one always has to squint or do whatever to keep it in place, though it might work. A hand-held monocular could be an option as well. The hand held monoculars typically have considerable magnification though, and function in essence as a telephoto lens. You would need to find one with as little magnification as possible. Perhaps someone makes a 2x? I don't recall if the 4x is the smallest magnification power. They are worn around the neck for easy access, and are quite commonly used by those who are severely visually impaired (as in legally blind).

The thing is you would need perscription headphone/glasses. Or for a small fee I'll cut the sides off of a spare pair and mount it to your headphones. I'll guarantee my work but I can't promise it will look even remotely cool;) I really do feel for ya Beag I have the same problem but so far I roll with it for better or for worse.

I was thinking more along the lines of having a sleeve on the cushions that you could slip your glasses arms thru which would cushion from your head as well.

I wear ATH-50's with glasses and no problems here. Ditto here. I do, however, often remove my glasses for singing. But I use different headphones (HD280Pro) for that, and they're a little tighter than the AT's. It also helps assure that I know the lyrics well beforehand.

Yanno, Beagle... it would probably be a lot easier to just go to your optometrist with your headphones in hand and ask to try out a bunch of frames until you find some that don't impede your cans (lol... that sounds like I'm talking about bewbz). I was really worried about this when I got my glasses but these frames seem to not get in the way at all. Maybe they could even jury rig something for you or hook you up with a pair that just kind of clip to your nose or something. But a monocle would indeed be teh cool. Then you could send it flying when us CHers say something unfit for polite society. And I mean... who doesn't LOVE Mr. Peanut?

Not sure; you may be able to add a 'soft cushion sleeve' on the glasses 'arms' to help relieve the pressure. Ain't there any opts' that know of any such product?, or try make it yourself.
