weird recording issue - SOLVED

This problem just started happening.  Let me try to explain.   After I record a track (it happens with audio or MIDI), if I need to do a small section over, I'll split that section (mainly audio) and then will record a new part in place of the one I took out.     If it's vocals, I'll start recording a couple of beats before I need to sing again.  I usually have to begin by overlapping the end of the last vocal part.   And when I end, sometimes it overlaps the next vocal line.   The point is, I overlap a small portion of what is already recorded.

However, when I'm done recording, the part of the old recorded track that was overlapped by the new track will be lightened in color and will be split right where the recording began and ended.   And that part of the old track that's lightened and is split will not have any audio sound.

I tried rolling back the last Platinum update, but that didn't help.  I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Greg

Do you have sound-on-sound recording enabled? If not, then Sonar is likely trying to replace the audio already recorded with the new recording. Right-click on the Record button to check.

Dan, that was the problem.   It works perfectly now.   Thank you!
