what seems to be causing some sonar errors=

 
What Causes Errors? There's actually a number of reasons why these annoying errors happen, but the most common are caused by new programs getting installed on top of older programs before the older versions are completely removed.

1. Intel 5960x 3.5mhz , ASUS x99 deluxe u3.1, Asus Thunderbolt ex II,   G skills f4 3000 Memory 32GB , ADATA ssd 250GB Main Drive, Lots of WD Red 7200 Mechanical Drives with Black Drives, 14x multi optical Drive, LG Multi Blu Drive,  2X Extern WD Mybooks usb 3.0, AMD r7 270 video card, Motu 828x TB , Motu Midi XT.
2.  USING MAC PRO, as win 10 has damaged 2 x99 systems 8.1 is also to blame for the final burnout trying to roll back!

    Think this was supposed to be on another thread.

    Sell by date at 9000 posts. Do not feed.
    @48/24 & 128 buffers latency is 367 with offset of 38.

    No AlexS...I found this on the internet when googling the errors I have mostly c00000005 sort of thing...I did find this , copied it, and pasted it into a new thread...Just to help some who may be thinking to upgrade from x2 or x1...to x3....might be a good idea to uninstall the old one...as some seem to be having issues with the new from the old....and opening old projects in the new...and perhaps other issues might be tied to odd behavioral tactics of the gremlins there of.
     
    And it was put in my other Post that you addressed also.

    On my test system I have a multitude of programs including Sonar 8.3, 8.5, x1d(exp), x2a and x3c. All happily coexist and work ok.
    Sorry I can't agree with your statement sir Les.

    it is not my statement....read what I said below that post to AlexS.
    I got that statement off the internet..while googling my event viewer faults with sonar x3c and other software and services...dumping doo doo in the poo poo....certainly not happy here in any union...But that's the thing with PCs and devices, there is such a wide difference between users...it is hard to pin one thing on all....but for some it works...and for others it doesn't.
     
    just another bottle...and all will be ripe as rain.

    This might be true for those programs that literally overwrite an earlier version, but in the case of Sonar, it's a completely new install - the only concession that's made is in respect of Shared Folders

    Did x2 over write x1?..i can't remember as the fog or smoke from my burnt hair is clouding my mind....and if that is the case with x2 and x1...with x3 borrowing from x2...is there a connection?...or, as I am now finding out, perhaps x3 and then the patch is not installed correctly as admin....which is causing the c0000005 ish error code.

    Naa quite the opposite, keep it or get more hassle at least in the case of Sonar X3/X2/X1. DLL hell is pretty much gone forever since XP/later releases of Win 2000, now we have setup component hell.

    Prior releases can continue to live alongside new Sonar releases.
     
    There are some things that get altered going backward, like the Plug-In Manager, but most everything is kept separate between releases.
