what's new?

i have been away for about 5 years now, and was just wondering what all has changed since sonar 5? or in general in the audio world since 2007. i'm about to dive back in, and was wondering if i should purchace the new x1, or anything else for that matter. thanks.

Ummm, well, let's see, Michael Jackson died, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, the zombie apocalypse may have begun in Florida, and oh yeah, SONAR may have changed a wee bit. But it's all good. Everybody loves it!
Seriously, Go for it! X2 is the shiznit.

Major interface and workflow changes, a video about it is here http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2669041

It is about X2 however not X1.

    How long have you got?

My advice is get X2, acclimatize to the changes and then wonder how on earth you managed with previous versions.

It will definitely be a very big change from SONAR 5. Be ready to spend some time learning how to use the program all over again.

Funny. I haven't even seen a computer period in years, what version of windows is anyone running anymore? I got an iPhone 4 and thought this was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. But I'm ready to start back making music. Last version of sonar that I have is 6.

Sonar X3 e Producer is the current version. It is different from what you remember but it wont take you long to bring yourself up to speed. You will need to do some research and get a Sonar X3 Power book for it to help with the transition. Of course you have this forum.

There are still a few users happily running Sonar 6PE.  Apparently it works fine on a Windows 7 platform.
