where are you getting your speaker stands??

in the thread about poor mans acoustic treatment, i see many pics of your truth monitors up on perfect little stands behind your desks...

where do i buy a set? more importantly, what are they called....ebay usually does the trick but i need a name match from some of you guys that own a set... and do i need that foam molded pad under them ? is it called mo-pad?

i have Alesis M1 Active MKII monitors

do they mount to the stands, they look as if they could fall easily...if bumped...

also, how far should they be from the walls? 3 feet?

I got my stands from sweetwater:

they're also on Aurzlex mopads.  some people think this is a bad thing to do.  others think it's good.  I don't know.  I just like that they don't vibrate as much on the stand and I can angle them.

from the wall - 2 to 3 feet is best if you can use that much space.

and your ears should make an equilateral triangle with them, so if they're 6 feet apart, then you should be 6 feet from each of them.

depends on what you mean by a "bump"

they can withstand a good hit even on carpet, but they are still just a pole with a triangle base, so a big hit won't hold them.

i like this model you suggested. I like on-stage stands in general. none have ever failed me yet. I think you just helped me with my newest investment. sure will help eliminate space issues in my room. by getting rid of this other desk i have set up. I will get the mo-pad too. good suggestion. logical. makes sense to me. thanks beagle

it's always good to screw the stands on wooden boards with some thick rubber between the stand and the board.

    sincerely,

Windows - some Dual Core CPU - a little bit of RAM - not so bad soundcard - i think it's called Sonar - a silver mixer with colorful knobs - black speaker monitors - my ears
