where's realtek audio drivers in Sonar 8? I see UA-25 but I'd like both...

The Edirol UA-25 can record or play at 9600 sample rate but not both at the same time.
Lowering to 4800 or 4410 works but I'd like to get into recording voice at 9600 w/Edirol while playing back tracks to sing over through the headphones. Only way I'll pull that off is to set audio inputs to Edirol UA-25 drivers and audio outputs to Realtek onboard chipset & drivers.
Problem:
All I can ever find in my audio drivers (for input or output for that matter, but esp. out) is UA-25.
Why do I not see my Realtek drivers in Sonar audio options/drivers even esp. after switching defaults in Windows ctrlPanel/Sound?
And/or how do I even "search" or "refersh" or browse for audio drivers in Sonar options at all? You just get what it pulls up: UA-25 in this case. Other devices+drivers are seen & working fine outside of sonar, like Sound Recorder or YouTube.
Thank you.
Am I trying to do something impossible?
Do UA-25 users of 9600 record sample rate only ever record without listening to any kind of playback at all ever for timing at least??
Much appreciated if you can help.

The audio interface options available to SONAR depend on the driver mode you select. Realtek usually runs in MME mode which is not a good performer. SONAR does not supply drivers for audio interfaces, those are the responsibility of the interface manufacturer. You might be able to use ASIO4ALL and get acceptable performance but keep in mind the Realtek sound chip is not designed for DAW use. You probably will not be able to use the Realtek and the UA-25 at the same time. Chances are most users of UA-25 don't bother with recording at 96KHz sample rate. I might even suggest that quite a few users of SONAR don't bother with sample rates higher that 48KHz.

The UA-25 requires flipping a switch for 96k, and IIRC then limits you to one channel at a time. I wouldn't bother with 96kHz with either the Realtek or the UA-25. You won't be able to use both interfaces at the same time unless you're running MME, which isn't recommended because it has terrible latency.

    Your best bet:
    • disable the Realtek via the Windows Device Manager
    • use the UA-25 for all audio
    • stick with 44.1KHz for your sample rate
    • select ASIO
    • get the latest ASIO driver from Roland for the UA-25

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I appreciate this from both of you... I was thinking about the probable folly of the pursuit after I posted it. I'm getting sick, also, of finding old projects I wanted to resurrect formatted in all different sampling rates requiring constant hard rebooting of the device. I think I'm going to wear out its USB hole. Thanks again.. I guess the only thing I was wondering is does anyone ever use, say, two UA-25's, obsessed with recording in 9600 with simultaneous playback from a separate unit or would this just crash or fail to work? This is more a curiosity than a pursuit... I'm sticking with mid to high 40's for the time being either way since I can't really tell the difference anyway and I've got bigger fish to fry learning to mix better these days (sidechain ducking rules!)  :)
