which do you think is better Music Creator 5 or Sony Acid Music Studio?

hello

thanks for your help to my previous questions. A couple more if i may.

1.Which do you think is better? Music Creator 5 or Sony Acid Music Studio?

2. my main concern is will i be able to cut and paste and slice the tracks in Music Creator 5 as
you can in the Sony package?

3. And does the Sony generally do things better or not?

I can't find a demo of music creator, its a shame, as it would help in
making the decision easier.

thanks again

Hmmm...You're asking this on the SONAR users forum. Do you think you can get objective views here :o) Anyway, I don't know, I've only used SONAR.

To find out you should try the demo, if there is one.  It's pitty if there really isn't one.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I've never used Acid either.  I think Robomusic has maybe he'll chime in.

but from my understanding it depends on how you work and what you want to do with it since they are not exactly the same kind of program.  Acid, from my understanding, is geared more towards "loop sequencing."  in other words if you intend to cut, paste, stretch and mix together audio loops then Acid is a better tool.

MC is a full recording and mixing sequencer.  It's strengths lie in recording real audio and MIDI and mixing using softsynths and FX. I'm not saying Acid can't do this (I don't know - I haven't used it).

It really depends on what you want to do, and what kind of music you make. Both do essentially the same thing. Acid is targetted at looped based production, but it will do other things as well. You can record and mix in it.

Cake is targetted at midi, and audio based recording. But it will do loops, although here they are called groove clips. it does most things pretty good. It is not quite as good in the looping tools as Acid, but acid is not quite as good in the midi tools as MC. Both will record audio.

If you are a Electronic or drum and bass type player, you will get more support over there. Me personally i liked recording in Cakewalk stuff better. Acid was great, but had more odd ways about it. Also The program seemed better before Sony bought it a few years back.

Look the mechanic is more important than the tools. Most all programs will get it done, one way or another. One thing i like is that the forum here is pretty cool.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

MC5 will do what you want to do...slice dice and splice... and more.

Does MC5 do it better...IDK because I have never used the other product.

I have Music Studio 7, but don't use it anymore. I find MC5 (and MC4) more stable. I also prefer the Cakewalk interface - the pale ACID interface is very bland. Also, the MC4/5 mixer is superior. If the choice was between MS7 (I don't know if there have been updates) and MC4/5, I would go for the latter.

    Cheers

well - MC6 is very pale gray.  I don't like that color scheme either,I preferred S8.5 and below for color which was customizable.
