which version of sonar to buy ?

Hi , my needs are , mixing, mastering and recording vocals and guitars,  my setup is , UA25EX interface and cakewalk sonar producer 6,  on a desktop, with 16 Go rams and intel i7 , my computer is ready for the job, so my question is , for my needs , what is the best to buy ? , sonar producer 8.5 or sonarX2

    Sadly, you cannot legally buy 8.5. It's X2 or stick with S6.


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    While there might be some 3 year old "new in the box" versions of 8.5 floating around, they have to be scarce. If you do have an opportunity to buy 8.5 make sure it has not been previously registered. Otherwise it is X2. Or the soon to be released X3 (at least that is the rumor).

    Version 8.0 is still easy to find, but 8.5 does seem to be rare.  Maybe that's because 8.0 was the last version available boxed only, i.e. no download option.

    And the good news is you can keep your old version installed. Sonar is great that way in that you can keep upgrading versions without losing  the old ones. 
    Your new X2 version will be 64 bit so you might want to keep 6 around for working on old 32 bit projects. 
    The bad news is the X series is like starting all over with a new DAW, 8.5 is pretty much the same as 6 so easy to switch too. Good luck.
