who are the geezers around here that use X3?

we'll start at over 60??  And what is the main "drive" for doing computer audio?

I'll be 61 in a week...    phew...time flies.

I resemble that remark (64 and there's so much more ). 
 
I do it because I love music and my humble attempts at composition and production are very rewarding at a very deep personal level.

1953 Vintage here, Been playing since 1960 why would I want to stop? 
 
I find recording a great hobby outlet for music. There certainly not a lot of gigs anymore. And you should try and put together a band with the lot of us! But then I saw the Zombies in Spokane last fall,, their band has been performing since I strummed my first cord and they had no problem rocking out.. Well, the drummer was a youngin'. 

I will be 62 on May 23rd. I am still very active both on the stage and the studio. I have cut back on the live gigs the last couple of years but I run a fairly successful project studio out of my home here in Macon,Ga. and I still do guitar, bass, and keys for local studios and in Nashville, Orlando, Atlanta, etc.. I am established with the companys I work for well enough that they send projects in Dropbox. That way I can lay my tracks in the comfort of my own home and send them back. The cost of travelling just in studio work alone would be tremendous and moving is just not an option. Needless to say, all my work is done in Sonar and then exported as Broadcast Wav files so they can throw them over into whatever DAW they use. We have also used the Pro Tools format export with great success. It has really made my job a lot easier and creative as well.
I also help other up and coming songwriters produce their songs and try to help connect them to some of my contacts that may be interested in signing a deal. But we all know that is becoming a huge shot in the dark these days.
A lot of guys know the studios I have recorded in and the artists I have played with and they always ask the question. "Why don't you have a wall full of gold and platinum records?" My answer is I was put here in this world to create music. I didn't ask to be a musician. The higher force made me one when it put me here. The rewards are nice but I go about the business of being a musician. For better or worse.

And FYI The new Geezer entry level is about 75,,, 60 is the equivalent of 80 in these times..I work in an care facility and you can't get a room unless your around 90... Great place to work if your a young geezer !

I'll me 65 in a month or so.  I have been playing guitar for the last 50 of those years, writing songs for the last 30.  I went through the progression of recording to stereo tape, to 4 track Tascam cassette machines, 8 track digital machines then started with Cakewalk Home Studio about 10 years ago, moved through Sonar 6 to X1, X2 and now X3.  I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of this recording and mixing stuff, give me another 10 or 15 years and I'll be a force to be reckoned with.  I am about to release a cd of original material that I have recorded and mixed on X2 and X3.  I have finally gotten it to the point where I think it holds up with other stuff that's out there.  I'm hopeful it won't take as long to do the second cd.

63 ...still working a lot... I create everything from classical to trip hop... a high percentage of what I create sells for my clients and it makes me good money. I use X3e ...various synth combinations, guitar, bass and vocal....

SONAR X3 gets a workout every day here in Texas... also resuming live loud heavy rock in July...
 
It's best not to think "age" in a world that desperately wants to replace everything past a certain "expiration" date...
the times have changed a bit since my early days of playing music in 1963 New Orleans... while all us smart ass punks didn't listen to elders ... we at least looked up to them as what we could be when we grew up...

When we use "tools of  today" in such a way as to push ourselves to create "new" ...we at least eliminate the labels and get a chance to show what we got!
 
 

I'm still here at gunpoint... It started when I was somewhere near 2.5 and they couldn't get the stringed things away from me... I'm 62 and will be 63 this year. I've owned/operated commercial studios back in the days of tape and vinyl and I don't expect the gun to disappear from my head anytime before death! They took my gun but left one permanently affixed to my head demanding that I create and record... So I must go on!

I will be 62 in the fall.  I don't do as much recording/editing today as in the past due to having my left foot and ankle totally fused in 2ooo.  Then one year later I found out that I have adult scoliosis.  I am now forced to use a wheelchair and a power chair to get around.  I have been doing audio since I was 10 and had my own studio in the Seattle area from 1978 to 1993 before having to retire with all the surgeries on my ankle.  I have been in Las Vegas since 2001. 

As an old fart, I'm too lazy to pick up a guitar. It's much easier to sit in front of a computer.

For those of us who lived in that era having a modern DAW is magical. I think that's why there are so many of us who are having the best days of our musical lives now. It certainly can be frustrating and discouraging at times as we struggle through learning all  of what we need to know, but the reward for all that work is the realization of dreams we've had since we were teenagers.

I'll never forget the joy I had when I was finally able to hear my songs fully realized. That was after I had already been writing songs for 10+ yrs!!

I am 65. My how the time flies. Just yesterday I was a kid. At least it seems that way.

Geezer in the UK just means guy or as you'd say 'dude'.
So at 40, I'm a geezer in my language.
