wierd midi problem and wierd metronome problem

two things seem to be happening randomly in X1 that I didnt have a problem with in previous version.  I wonder if anyone else is having this issue.

Open up a blank project.  Default has one generic midi and one generic audio track.
Open a softsynth and begin playing.
click of the soft synth track and then back to the soft synth track
Midi note suddenly go only to the original generic midi track.  Nothing will trigger on the softsynth

I have to shut down and start over to fix the problem.  If it is a track I had worked on in the past I can save, shut down, and reopen and it will work.

Second problem just happened today.  I was turning the metronom on and off between play and record and then it stopped playing even though everything is on.  I never opened preferences.  Just clicked on the tool bar.

I am running win 7 64.  various 64/32 bit plugins. 12gig ram, i7 processor, no virus software, plenty of HD space.  X1b updated.
Anybody else having this problem?  Any solutions?

I had a Metronome go away completely, despite all the settings being correct.

In the console, I unchecked the "BYPASS BINS OF THIS TYPE"...therefore 're-enabling' all FX.  Pow...Metronome was back.  RE-bypassed FX again, and metronome was clicking away...albeit, not actually in time with the streaming audio.
