Need more info about the computer. How much memory? 64-bit Windows 7 or 32-bit? Do you have a separate video card or built-in? What driver mode on the soundcard (ASIO or WDM)?

You don't have 700GB of memory. Disk maybe, but not memory. So how much memory do you really have? And I asked you if you have a video card or just the built in video chip. Those make a big difference.

Does Emu have a Windows 7 driver for the Emu0404?

USB 2.0 or 1.1? Makes all the difference in the world. Make sure your USB is connected directly to the computer and not to a USB hub.
