Found out (too late) windows 8 does not support the drivers for my firewire interfaces!!   Has anyone had any experiences yet? I can not even use my interfaces!

Yes, you have to get the legacy drivers from a windows 7 computer. And also you'll have to disable the driver check on startup.

I've tried that, see one of my threads regarding Tascam FW1884 and windows 8.

Unfortunately it did not work very well for me, but that might be different for you. There is a few people at the RME forums and Presonus forums which is using Win8 and FW with success.

For me it was too much latency, probably due to bad drivers.

Have you tried installing the drivers in compatibility mode? (e.g. for Windows 7).

I don't have a firewire device anymore, but I had to do that with my USB Frontier Tranzport wireless controller.  It works without problems installed  in Win 7 compatibility mode.   (All my other equipment, the Windows 7 drivers worked in Win 8 without having to use the compatibility mode).

The Tranzport driver I used is 1.5.0.  It may even be for Vista, as Vista drivers are Win 7 compatible.

Here is the link to the Tranzport download site:

It may be necessary to use the legacy firewire driver so the Windows 8 does not include the legacy driver like Windows 7 does . I power cycle A . It will then be the new mounted firewire interface . govt jobs in india
