working with old XP and Sonar 6LE with UM-2G interface

I have Sonar 6LE which operates with my Roland UM-2G midi interface on Windows XP. (I know it is now of the dinasauer period). I now want to work with it in the XP mode of Windows 7. The software seems as though it wants to work and the interface seems to want to work - lights up when keyboard played. The keyboard icon shows on the tool bar at the bottom right but does not light up when the keyboard is played. BUT the software does not sense the interface.
Any ideas on how this can be made to operate?

Why do you work in the "XP-Mode" of Windows 7?
Maybe this emulation makes problems.
SONAR 6LE and the UM-2G runs in Windows 7 in the normal mode. Make sure you have installed SP1, better SP2.

I am using the "XP mode" as the CDs which came with the UM-2G and Sonar LE say it is for XP and Vista only, so just doing as it says. Will try the Win 7 option.

Many thanks

I have loaded Sonar into Win 7 BUT when clicking on the desktop icon, nothing happens. I have downloaded the UM-2G upgrade for Win 7 64 bit. Assume it would work IF the Sonar would load.

Compatibility mode is probably wheat the OP means
So right slick on the shortcut and find the compatibility tab and set it to XP SP3

Dear All respondents,

Thanks for your help and with that and a bit of luck, I have got the combination to work in Win7 so all is well.

Many thanks again,

Peter
