Well, you can try the demo and see if there's something that works better for you. We all have different ways of working and requirements. I tried the X1 Demo and found there was nothing that made any difference to the way I work. I never have problems or have to mess with technology using 8.5. Just fire it up and record..Seems this might not be the case when they release new versions. The one feature I want, Wave editing, is still not added to the newer versions. I'll upgrade when they add real wave editing or when 8.5 will no longer runs on a computer I have.

I installed the trial version of X2 without any intention of upgrading, but ended up being won over by the idea of screensets. What I did not realise at the time was that Cakewalk have quietly withdrawn some of their support for this current product while they are busy developing the next version.

{Insert Cactus' reply here} Ditto. Truth is, I wouldn't upgrade even if they offered to give it to me for free.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

X2 has improved my workflow, so it's been worth it for me. I know there's more, but specifically so far: - Track opening when you click on it and closing when you click onto another one
- Vertical bar down the timeline (not sure what you call it)
- Better window management
- This is vague, but selecting stuff feels easier in X2
- Full version of Rapture (love it)
- Automation lanes

I was given a opportunity to purchase Office 2010 through my wife's workplace for $12. $24 if you ordered the disk. I installed it and now use it , but my DAW computer still has the old office 2003 package. I use it too and other than the way it looks,,, ??? software has not truly changed much in the last 12 years. It just looks different.
