xaphoon - my new instrument



Walking through Shinjuku (Tokyo) last night on my way home I saw a street vendor selling xaphoons, or in japanese they call them pocket saxopone. It's sort of a cross between a clarient and a recorder, it has a reed like a clarient and finger holes like a recorder. I picked one up but I've never played a wind instrument before. At the moment I'm making very loud duck noises - hopefully I'll get something musical soon.

    That looks a lot nicer than the one I bought at an arts festival several years ago. I can play clarinet, but the problem I found was that some notes were much louder than others. Maybe I just need to learn some technique.
