z3ta+ re-install problem

Hello there people, managed to sort out my system yesterday after a corrupted windows\config\system file, but had to install all my synths/fx again.

Everything works perfectly apart from z3ta+. I install it as usual and everything goes into the right folders, but when i start Cubase (SX 3.1) it won't find z3 on the VST instruments list. The .dlls are there in the vst plugins folder where they should be, and the standalone version works fine.

I've tried re-starting the comp before going into Cubase, but nothing changes. I've also tried uninstalling and installing it again. None of it does anything.

Anyone else had this problem and know of a soultion?

    If you lost your Windows registry settings, and attempted to run Cubase in that condition, it might have blacklisted z3ta+ (z3ta+ won't start if it can't find the installer settings in the registry). Even if you reinstalled z3ta+ after (which seems to be the case as you report the microhost working), you need to reset Cubase VST plugins (or manually delete the plugins cache), and make it rescan your vstplugins folder.

    Ok cool, thanks Rene. Excuse my lack of knowledge but could you tell me how to reset/rescan the VST plugins from Cubase?

    I just noticed you use Cubase SX 3.1, I'm sorry I'm not sure where the blacklist file lives on that version. Most likely some folk in the forum knows it.

    You can check if it's the same as in Cubase 4. It lives here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase 4\Vst2xBlacklist.xml

    Just rename it to something else and restart Cubase.

    thanks a lot! Found how to re-scan the plugins (Devices->Plugin Information->Update List) then just made sure the boxes next to the z3 plugs were ticked and it worked!
