zooming in on waveform??
im new to sonar x1 and its new layout, workflow is different to previous versions. Double click just gives me the loop construction, which doesnt let me cut edit it more precisely like i want. i can stretch it vertically by just making the track itself bigger, but i wanna stretch it horizontal and stuff. can someone explain how i can just zoom in the waveform and edit it. (delete parts, cut parts, see breathes clearer etc)

You can zoom in easily enough, but the one thing you cannot do in Sonar is to edit the waveform in any way. There is no waveform editor. To zoom in vertically, you have to click the small divider between the clip pane & the headers and drag up/down

When I need to really edit a Wave.. I usually mark the position and export it to Soundforge, then re-import it. Definitely a workflow interupter but sometimes has to be done. Maybe Cakewalk can give us a Waveform editor SOON ; )

Well I,ve wondered myself. The loop construction does not allow to use the edit tools. I know you can zoom in on the original track and edit - that is, to adjust volume, remove sss sounds etc., just wondered if there is a specific edit mode. Thanks Jan

No wave editing? I'm confused. Are you saying you just want to work in the loop view? For Track view zooming I usually use ALT/Wheel but there are also the little zoomers in the bottom right corner. Also there is "Z" and make a box?

You can edit waves, just not the way you're expecting, Nell. As a former early version of Cubase user, I too was used to clicking the wave and being able to edit it on that screen. But if you just make the waveform full by dragging it, you can use the select tool to maybe mute the beginning, etc. However, I have to be honest, I think you'll grow to love slip editing. It's great because you don't destroy the original wave. Fades are super easy too. You add all your effects on the Prochannel, so you don't need to compress the wave and forgo your original wave file.

Glenn You can edit the clip in the track view or loop construction view. Wavelab and sound forge have a little more options for editing, that's all. To the poster, you can keybind some keys on your qwerty keyboard to zoom horizontal and vertical. I have Z for Vertical and x for horizontal. But, i mainly use my jog wheel for zooming on the Euphonix transport. Cj
